An epic course
It will be a stunning achievement to swim these routes.
We wanted this to be an adventure.
2km out and back, north shore to south shore (dark green)
3km triangular course taking you on an adventure to the Dam and water tower (light green)

Swim Distance Options
1km - The perfect starter swim challenge. £32
Experience the thrill of this open water swim course in a manageable distance,
All welcome, no experience necessary, age 14 and above.
2km - Swim across the heart of the lake. £42
The 2km course goes from the north shore, to the south shore of the lake and back.
You really get to experience the full size and scale of Grafham water from this amazing perspective.
3km - Explore the reservoir. £47
The 3km swimmers get to swim the triangular course which takes in the water tower, dam, south shore and north shore. It's an epic adventure.
5km - Both courses combined. £55
Considered the half marathon distance for open water swimmers.
A monster swim with a full passage of the triangle course followed by the north to south shore route.
Cut off times
1km - 1 hour to complete your swim.
2km - 2 hours to complete your swim
3km - 2 hours to complete your swim
5km - 3 hours to complete your swim
*3km and 5km athletes have a rolling cut off for the first 2km due to safety provision. You must keep pace.
3km = 4:00mins/100m average pace = 40 mins per km. You must reach the 2km point within 1hr 20 mins.
5km athletes must average 36 mins per km to complete the full 5km distance in 3 hours. Those in the 5km missing the 3 hr cut off will be ranked in the 3km competition.

Wetsuits
Please note the temperature ranges before entering the event.
15.9c and under = wetsuit compulsory
16c and above = wetsuit optional in all distances
23c = Advisory Non-wetsuit for 3km
24c = Advisory Non-wetsuit for 5km
If the water temperature does not reach 16.1c, this will be a wetsuit compulsory event. Please consider this when entering. There will be no transfers or refunds made because of the wetsuit policy.
The upper limit is discretional. We advise that you don't wear a wetsuit above these temperatures but acknowledge not everyone is here to swim as fast as possible and might require the extra warmth.
The policy has been agreed with the lake owners using industry best practice and our collective knowledge of the venue. Temperatures will be adhered to; no exceptions will be made. Unfortunately, we cannot make additional allowances for experience or preference. We appreciate your continued understanding.
SwimFloats
Swim floats are compulsory for this event
They are designed to make you visible without impeding your natural swimming stroke.
We loan our swim floats for free to all competitors. No need to book, no need to make any arrangements.
They will be ready to collect on the morning of SwimGrafham if you would like to use one.
We believe that they offer our swimmers the best possible safety during our event.
